O’Level admission requirements
UAST’s general admission guidance requires at least five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, at no more than two sittings. It lists WAEC, NECO, GCE and NABTEB qualifications.
The remaining subjects depend on the course. Five credits alone are insufficient if they do not include the subjects required for your programme.
Course-specific subjects: what to check
UAST’s detailed subject table available for reference covers 2025/2026. The examples below come from that university notice; applicants should confirm the combination for the current admission exercise before choosing or changing a course.
| Course | UTME subjects in the 2025/2026 notice | O’Level credits in the same notice |
|---|---|---|
| Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science | English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics | English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics |
| Food Science and Technology | English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics | English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and one additional subject |
| Agribusiness | English, Economics, Mathematics and one Science or Social Science subject | English, Mathematics, Economics and two additional subjects |
| Industrial Mathematics | English, Mathematics, Physics and one Science subject | English, Mathematics and three Science subjects |
The university’s earlier admission notice is useful for understanding these differences, but its previous-session cut-off marks should not replace the 2026/2027 screening thresholds above.
For a current course check, use the IBASS Eligibility Checker identified in JAMB’s official FAQs. Select UAST and the exact programme to check the required subjects.
First-choice and screening requirements
UAST’s 2026/2027 admission announcement requires applicants to make the university their first choice. Candidates who originally selected another institution can change to UAST through a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre.
The current Post-UTME application portal begins by verifying your JAMB registration number. It states that only candidates on the session’s official JAMB list can register.
Prepare the following for your application:
- Your JAMB registration number and UTME score.
- An active email address for verification.
- A passport photograph.
- Your O’Level result or results.
- Your personal and contact details.
The portal also provides a field for uploading your JAMB result slip, labelled optional but recommended. The Post-UTME application fee is ₦2,000, non-refundable.
Upload your O’Level results to JAMB CAPS as well as completing the university’s application. JAMB needs those results to process your admission.
Direct Entry requirements
The current screening information reviewed covers UTME applicants. It does not specify course-by-course Direct Entry grades or accepted qualifications.
If you hold an ND, NCE, HND, IJMB or JUPEB qualification, confirm that UAST accepts your qualification for the particular course before applying. Send the course name, qualification and grade to admissions@uast.edu.ng, the admissions contact listed on the official portal.
Pre-degree admission is a separate route
UAST also offers a one-year pre-degree programme for candidates preparing for undergraduate study. Its 2026/2027 announcement specifies a minimum of three O’Level credits in relevant subjects and a ₦10,000 application fee.
These are entry requirements for the preparatory programme. Candidates progressing to a degree must still meet the admission requirements for their chosen undergraduate course.
