Are you a non-indigene eyeing Lagos State University (LASU) for your studies and wondering, “How much is LASU school fees for non-indigene?” You’re not alone—thousands of prospective students across Nigeria ask this every year.
LASU, located in Ojo, Lagos, is one of the country’s top state universities, blending affordability with quality education. In this guide, I’ll give you the latest 2026 figures, a detailed cost breakdown, and tips to plan your finances. Let’s get started!
LASU School Fees for Non-Indigenes: The Numbers
For the 2026/2027 academic session, LASU’s school fees for non-indigene freshers vary based on the program stream you’re admitted into. Here’s the scoop:
- Stream 1 (Regular Program): N150,040 total
- Tuition: N90,040
- Acceptance Fee: N30,000 (one-time for freshers)
- Medical Fee: N30,000 (one-time for freshers)
- Stream 2 (Regular with Entrepreneurship Training): N241,040 total
- Tuition: N181,040
- Acceptance Fee: N30,000
- Medical Fee: N30,000
Key Notes:
- These figures are for non-indigene freshers (100-level students).
- Returning non-indigene students typically pay less—around N113,000–N150,000 per session—since acceptance and medical fees are one-time costs.
- Fees are subject to annual review, so confirm with the official LASU website (lasu.edu.ng) or admissions office for 2026 updates.
Why the Difference Between Streams?
- Stream 1: The standard academic track, focusing on your core curriculum.
- Stream 2: Includes extra entrepreneurship training, equipping you with practical skills alongside your degree—hence the higher tuition.
Non-indigenes pay the same as indigenes at LASU, unlike some state universities with tiered pricing. However, indigenes may qualify for refunds or subsidies (e.g., Lagos State Scholarship Board), while non-indigenes don’t.
Additional Costs to Budget For
Beyond tuition, here are other expenses non-indigene students should plan for:
- Hostel Accommodation: N25,000–N50,000 per session (optional, subject to availability).
- Departmental Fees: N5,000–N20,000 (varies by faculty—e.g., Engineering or Law might be higher).
- Post-UTME Form: N2,000–N5,000 (one-time during admission).
- Books and Supplies: N20,000–N50,000 annually, depending on your course.
Total Estimated Cost for Freshers: N180,000–N300,000 for your first year, including extras.
