FUGASHUA Courses and Requirements 2026/2027

Federal University Gashua (FUGASHUA) offers Computer Science, Accounting, Biochemistry, Agriculture, English Language and other undergraduate courses, with 11 newly approved programmes available for 2026/2027, including Cyber Security, Software Engineering and Biotechnology. Applicants need five relevant O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings. The university’s published general UTME screening minimum is 150.

The official admission advertisement invites candidates with 150 UTME points or above, provided they meet the relevant O’Level and UTME/Direct Entry requirements.

The notice does not provide a separate subject-combination table for these programmes. Applicants must check the requirements for the exact course through JAMB and the university.

Do not confuse similar names: Development Studies is listed separately in the new advertisement, while older listings include Economics and Development Studies. Likewise, the new Information Communication Technology programme should not automatically be treated as identical to the older Information and Communication Science listing.

General FUGASHUA Admission Requirements

For the 2026/2027 screening exercise, the university requires:

  • At least 150 in UTME for general screening eligibility.
  • Five relevant O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Results obtained in no more than two sittings.
  • The correct subjects for the intended course.
  • Completion of the university’s screening registration.
  • Relevant additional qualifications for Direct Entry applicants.

The official notice expressly requires Direct Entry applicants to have selected FUGASHUA as their first choice.

Applicants must supply their JAMB details, subject combination, UTME score, O’Level results and supporting documents during registration.

Meeting the screening minimum does not guarantee admission. Your subjects and qualifications must also satisfy the requirements of the programme.

FUGASHUA O’Level Requirements

FUGASHUA’s general five-credit rule does not mean that any five subjects will qualify you. The credits must match your course.

The examples below distinguish school-specific requirements from general brochure guidance where a current FUGASHUA-specific table could not be verified.

CourseO’Level requirement or guidance
Computer ScienceFUGASHUA’s brochure entry specifies English Language, Mathematics and Physics, plus two other science subjects.
BiochemistryFUGASHUA’s brochure entry specifies English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
AccountingGeneral brochure requirement: English Language, Mathematics and Economics, plus two other relevant subjects. Confirm any FUGASHUA-specific conditions.
Economics and Development StudiesGeneral brochure requirement: English Language, Mathematics and Economics, plus two Arts or Social Science subjects.
English LanguageLiterature-in-English is a central course requirement. Check the complete subject set alongside FUGASHUA’s published English and Mathematics credit requirement.
Newly approved programmesThe university requires relevant O’Level credits but does not spell out each programme’s subjects in the new-course advertisement. Confirm the exact combination before applying.

For example, a candidate with credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Government and Commerce should not assume that those results qualify them for Computer Science. The programme specifically requires Physics and additional science subjects.

Does FUGASHUA Accept Two Sittings?

Yes. The 2026/2027 screening instructions allow the five relevant O’Level credits to be obtained in no more than two sittings.

This does not remove the requirement to have all the compulsory subjects for your course.

FUGASHUA JAMB Subject Combinations

English Language is included in every combination below. Where a row offers alternatives, select the permitted option rather than treating every listed subject as compulsory.

CourseFour UTME subjects
Computer ScienceEnglish, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography.
BiochemistryEnglish, Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.
AccountingGeneral brochure combination: English, Mathematics, Economics and one other Social Science subject.
Economics and Development StudiesGeneral brochure combination: English, Economics, Mathematics and one of Government, History, Geography, Literature-in-English, French or CRS/Islamic Studies.
English LanguageGeneral brochure combination: English, Literature-in-English, one other Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subject.

The Computer Science and Biochemistry combinations above are explicitly identified for FUGASHUA in the brochure material checked. The other rows are general course guidance and should be checked against the current institution-specific entry.

What About Cyber Security, Software Engineering and the Other New Courses?

The October 2026 advertisement confirms that these courses are available, but it does not publish their individual UTME combinations.

Do not automatically copy Computer Science’s combination into Cyber Security or Software Engineering. Similarly, do not assume every new management course uses Accounting’s requirements.

Check the exact programme on JAMB’s Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System and confirm with FUGASHUA’s Admissions Office if the new course is not yet clearly listed.

FUGASHUA Direct Entry Requirements

The university’s 2026/2027 screening notice gives the following general eligibility requirements:

QualificationMinimum stated for screening
National Diploma — NDLower Credit
Higher National Diploma — HNDLower Credit
Nigeria Certificate in Education — NCECredit or Merit
IJMB6 points

Applicants must also meet the relevant O’Level requirements and the programme’s qualification requirements.

These are general screening conditions, not a promise of admission into 200 level. Your course may specify a higher grade, a particular diploma discipline or a different entry level.

Important Computer Science Direct Entry Exception

The FUGASHUA-specific Computer Science brochure entry distinguishes between qualifications:

  • ND Upper Credit and HND of at least Lower Credit are listed for Computer Science and relevant qualifications.
  • NCE Merit or above is listed in Mathematics and another Science or Social Science subject.
  • IJMB with at least six points is listed for entry into 200 level.
  • Two A’Level passes in science subjects, including Mathematics, are also listed.
  • The entry states that OND/ND Lower Credit applicants are admitted into 100 level.

This explains why a candidate can meet the university’s general ND Lower Credit screening condition without automatically qualifying for 200-level Computer Science admission.

Applicants with ND Lower Credit should confirm their course and likely entry level with the university before applying.

FUGASHUA Cut-Off Mark for 2026/2027

The verified general screening minimum is 150. The university also specifies 150 in its advertisement for the 11 newly approved programmes.

Some websites publish higher figures for selected science courses. A current official departmental table supporting those figures could not be verified from the sources checked.

Use 150 as the published screening threshold, while checking whether the university issues additional programme-specific selection requirements.

Screening Deadline and Application Portal

FUGASHUA extended its Post-UTME screening exercise to Tuesday, 3 November 2026.

The extension was announced in the university’s bulletin dated 13 October 2026. It supersedes the original 7 October closing date.

The official screening portal named in the extension notice is: https://fugashua.admissions.cloud

The original screening notice lists a ₦2,000 registration charge. Applicants should follow the payment instructions generated through the university’s approved process.

Documents and Details to Prepare

The published screening instructions ask applicants to provide:

  • JAMB registration number.
  • UTME subjects and score, where applicable.
  • Personal details and a working email address.
  • A recent passport photograph.
  • Relevant O’Level subjects and grades.
  • Scanned certificates and results.
  • Previous institution and qualification details for Direct Entry.

Review the information before final submission. The university’s instructions state that the completed application cannot be altered after submission.

Can You Register With Awaiting Results?

The screening instructions allow applicants to return and update their O’Level results where the results were initially being awaited.

However, awaiting-result registration does not remove the need to obtain the required credits. Complete the result update within the university’s applicable admission timeline.

Does FUGASHUA Offer Nursing, Medicine or Law?

A current admission advertisement confirming Nursing Science, Medicine and Surgery or Law could not be verified from the sources checked.

The university’s generic website headings alone are not enough to establish that a particular degree is accepting applicants. These programmes are also absent from the 11-course advertisement discussed above.

Before making a change of institution for any of them, confirm the exact programme on JAMB and obtain confirmation from FUGASHUA.

FUGASHUA and FUGUS are different universities. Federal University Gashua is in Yobe State; Federal University Gusau is in Zamfara State. Admission information for one should not be applied to the other.

How to Confirm That You Qualify

Before paying for screening or changing your course:

  1. Find the exact programme name on the university’s admission portal.
  2. Check its compulsory O’Level subjects.
  3. Compare your four UTME subjects with the programme’s combination.
  4. For Direct Entry, check both your qualification grade and its relevance to the course.
  5. Confirm the entry level if applying with ND Lower Credit.
  6. Complete the screening process within the announced deadline.

For the newly approved courses, use the university’s specific advertisement alongside JAMB’s requirements. A course being available does not mean every applicant with 150 automatically qualifies.
