FUD Courses and Requirements 2026/2027: Updated Undergraduate Programme List

Make this easier to read

Federal University Dutse (FUD) offers courses including Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Computer Science, Accounting, Agriculture and Biochemistry. Its 2026/2027 admission notices list 64 undergraduate programmes, including 22 additions such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Medical Laboratory Science and Physiotherapy.

Admission requires the relevant O’Level credits, the correct UTME subjects and the minimum score for your chosen programme. Applicants for the newly approved courses must also confirm programme availability on both FUD’s portal and JAMB CAPS.

General FUD Admission Requirements

UTME applicants must meet the university’s general conditions and the requirements for their chosen course.

The main conditions are:

  1. First-choice selection: Choose FUD as your first-choice institution, or complete the required change of institution through JAMB.
  2. Relevant O’Level credits: Have at least five relevant credit passes in no more than two sittings.
  3. Correct UTME subjects: Your examination subjects must match the course requirements.
  4. Required UTME score: Meet the published minimum for your programme.
  5. Online screening: Complete the compulsory FUD screening application.
  6. Results upload: Ensure your O’Level results are available on both JAMB and the university’s screening portal.

FUD’s July 2026 general screening notice requires credits in English Language and Mathematics. The October notice for the new programmes specifies English Language and Mathematics where required by the programme.

A course-specific requirement or waiver should be checked alongside these general conditions.

FUD O’Level Subject Requirements

The subject requirements below are drawn from JAMB’s published FUD entries, including institution-specific remarks where available.

English Language and Mathematics are the starting point under FUD’s general screening requirements. The table shows the other subjects needed to complete the relevant five-credit combination.

English Language Has a FUD-Specific O’Level Provision

JAMB’s FUD-specific remarks list English Language and Mathematics, plus three subjects selected from:

  • Literature in English
  • Religious Studies
  • A Nigerian language
  • Arabic or French
  • History
  • Government
  • Economics
  • Civic Education

The listed two-sitting combinations are WAEC with WAEC, WAEC with NECO, NABTEB with WAEC, and NECO with NECO.

This O’Level provision should not be confused with the UTME combination: Literature in English appears in the UTME requirements for English Language.

Requirements That Still Need Programme-Specific Confirmation

The October notice confirms the names, cut-off marks and general eligibility conditions for the 22 new programmes, but it does not provide their complete O’Level and UTME subject combinations.

The FUD brochure records checked also did not provide detailed subject requirements for Nursing Science, Public Health, Environmental Health Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Arabic, Industrial Chemistry and Industrial Mathematics.

For these programmes, confirm the exact subject combination through JAMB’s official brochure or FUD’s Admissions Office. Do not automatically transfer the requirements for a related course.

JAMB Subject Combinations for FUD Courses

Use of English is included in every UTME combination below. The table lists the other three subjects.

A suitable O’Level result does not correct an unsuitable UTME combination. Check both sets of requirements before applying or changing your course.

FUD Direct Entry Requirements

FUD’s general 2026/2027 screening notice states that Direct Entry applicants must have at least Lower Credit in a National Diploma, or at least eight points in NCE/IJMB or an equivalent qualification.

However, that general minimum does not override stricter requirements for a particular programme. Your qualification must also be relevant to the course, and you must meet the O’Level requirements.

Selected Programme-Specific Direct Entry Conditions

ProgrammeRequirements stated in JAMB’s FUD entry
BiochemistryIJMB with at least 10 points in Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics is one route. Other listed routes include relevant A’Level passes, an Upper Credit ND in a related discipline, and specified HND or degree qualifications.
English LanguageIJMB with at least nine points in Literature in English, an Arts subject and a Social Science subject; other listed routes include qualifying NCE and non-university diploma credentials involving English.
Software EngineeringThe entry specifies nine points for the relevant IJMB route, Lower Credit for an accepted ND, or Merit for an accepted NCE. Relevant fields include Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Medicine and SurgeryThree IJMB A’Level subjects in Biology, Chemistry and Physics; alternatively, at least a Second Class Lower degree in specified health or biological science disciplines.
Human Anatomy and Human PhysiologyThree IJMB A’Level subjects in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
MathematicsRelevant A’Level qualifications involving Mathematics and another science subject; the FUD remarks specify at least eight points where applicable and recognise relevant ND qualifications.
BiologyRelevant ND with at least Lower Credit, or IJMB with at least eight points and a minimum D grade in Biology and Chemistry; the entry also lists an NCE route.
Political ScienceRelevant A’Level passes including Government and another Social Science subject, or specified NCE/diploma qualifications involving Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations or Local Government Administration.

These are selected course-specific provisions, not a guarantee that every qualification is accepted for every programme.

Where an older brochure provision appears less demanding than the current university screening notice, obtain clarification from FUD before relying on it.

Direct Entry Into the 22 New Programmes

The October 2026 announcement specifically invites candidates who sat the 2026 UTME. It does not establish Direct Entry admission into every newly approved programme.

Applicants seeking Direct Entry into one of those courses should confirm the available route with the Admissions Office.

FUD Cut-Off Marks for 2026/2027

FUD’s published minimum UTME scores range from 150 to 240.

ProgrammeMinimum UTME score
Medicine and Surgery240
Nursing Science210
Public Health190
Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology and Software Engineering180
Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Optometry180
Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Information Systems150

Other courses have their own minimum scores. See the complete FUD cut-off mark table before applying.

A higher UTME score does not remove the need for the correct O’Level credits and subject combination.

Is Law Available at FUD for 2026/2027?

FUD’s notice dated 21 October 2026 says the university is awaiting Council of Legal Education approval to commence LL.B. Common and Islamic Law.

The programme is not included in the accompanying list of 22 new courses and cut-off marks.

Prospective Law students should wait for the university’s specific commencement and admission announcement before treating the programme as open for applications.

What About Courses Listed in Older Brochures?

A programme appearing in a brochure does not, by itself, confirm its availability in the current admission exercise.

For example, JAMB’s FUD records include Linguistics — French, but this course does not appear in the two 2026/2027 cut-off notices used for the main list above. Its current availability and cut-off mark should be confirmed with the university.

For a newly approved programme, FUD specifically requires applicants to check that it is selectable on both the university’s portal and JAMB CAPS.

How to Check Your Course Requirements on JAMB

Use the official JAMB Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System.

  1. Open the brochure by institution.
  2. Find Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State.
  3. Select your intended programme.
  4. Read the O’Level requirements and UTME subjects.
  5. Check Direct Entry requirements if you are applying through that route.
  6. Read the special consideration or waiver remarks for FED-DUTSE.

Be careful with similar abbreviations. FED-DUTSE refers to Federal University Dutse, while FED-DUTSINMA refers to Federal University Dutsin-Ma. Their requirements should not be mixed.

How to Apply to FUD

Complete screening through the official FUD Post UTME portal.

The current 2026/2027 screening fee is ₦3,000, excluding applicable bank charges, and registration closes on Friday, 30 October 2026.
