WAEC provides a serial-number and PIN retrieval form at serial-pin.waec.org. The form checked on 18 October 2026 offers the 2026 examination year and WASSCE for School Candidates. Its first screen asks for your 10-digit candidate number and 11-digit National Identification Number (NIN).
Recovering your result-checker details is different from checking your result. After obtaining valid details, use WAEC’s result checker to view your result.
How to use the WAEC retrieval form
- Open the WAEC Serial Number & PIN Retrieval System.
- Select your examination year. At this check, the displayed option was 2026.
- Select your examination diet. The displayed option was WASSCE for School Candidates.
- Enter your 10-digit candidate number and your 11-digit NIN. Use your own correct examination details.
- Select Search and follow the instructions returned for your record. If a later step requests verification, complete it only on the official service.
- Once your credentials are available, keep the serial number and PIN somewhere private and safe.
CampusNinja checked the public form without submitting anyone’s personal details. We could not independently verify the screens after the record search, an OTP-delivery method or a universal free-retrieval entitlement.
If your details are not found
- Check that you selected your actual examination year and candidate category.
- Re-enter your examination number carefully. WAEC’s result checker describes the 10-digit number as the seven-digit centre number followed by the three-digit candidate number.
- Ask your school’s examination officer to help confirm your registered details if you are a school candidate.
- If the details are correct and retrieval still fails, contact WAEC through its official Nigeria website or office. An error message alone does not establish its cause.
Private candidates and earlier examination years
The retrieval form checked did not display a private-candidate diet or earlier years. Do not choose a school-candidate category or a different year to force a match. Use the result-checker details already issued to you, or ask WAEC about the recovery or replacement route for your examination.
We have removed the claim that all private candidates must buy a ₦5,000 PIN. A current universal replacement price was not verified. If you need a new result-checker token, consult the official result checker and its merchants/outlets guidance before paying.
How to check your result
On waecdirect.org, enter your examination number, select the correct examination year and type, and provide your result-checker PIN and serial number. Check the details before submitting.
WAEC’s result-checker page also publishes this SMS format: WAEC*ExaminationNumber*PIN*ExaminationYear, sent to 32327, without spaces. This retrieves a result; it does not recover a lost PIN. Check the service’s current network and charge information before sending.
WAEC says a new result-checker card is required if the allowable uses have been exhausted. Recovering the same PIN should not be treated as a way to reset its usage allowance.
Keep your examination details private
Do not post your NIN, PIN, examination number or any verification code in the comments. Use links from WAEC’s official services, and do not pay anyone who promises to change your grades or release a withheld result.
Correction — 18 October 2026: This guide now describes the public retrieval form that was checked. Unsupported claims about an August 2026 announcement, guaranteed free retrieval, later verification screens and a fixed private-candidate price have been removed.
