UMYU Cut-Off Marks for 2026/2027
UMYU’s minimum score depends on the programme. 150 does not qualify an applicant for every course.
| Programme | Minimum UTME score |
|---|---|
| Medicine and Surgery | 220 |
| Law | 190 |
| Nursing Science | 190 |
| Physiotherapy | 190 |
| Medical Laboratory Science | 180 |
| Computer Science | 170 |
| Cyber Security | 170 |
| Software Engineering | 170 |
| Biochemistry | 160 |
| Biology | 160 |
| Business Administration | 160 |
| Medical Physics | 160 |
| Microbiology | 160 |
| All remaining programmes listed above | 150 |
These are the university’s published 2026/2027 admission cut-off marks. Meeting the minimum allows you to meet that part of the eligibility requirements; it does not guarantee admission.
General UMYU Admission Requirements
For the 2026/2027 screening exercise, UMYU required applicants to:
- Choose UMYU as their first-choice institution.
- Meet the minimum UTME score for their intended programme.
- Have the correct UTME subject combination.
- Meet the programme’s O’Level requirements.
- Complete the university’s screening process for their admission route.
UMYU specifically stated that candidates with incorrect UTME combinations would not be enabled to register for screening. A high total score therefore cannot replace the required subjects.
The university’s screening notice allowed awaiting-result candidates to apply. However, an application does not remove the need to supply the required results before admission can be completed.
O’Level and JAMB Subjects for Selected UMYU Courses
The following are selected requirements from UMYU’s undergraduate admission table. Every O’Level subject listed requires a credit pass.
| Course | O’Level subjects | UTME subjects |
|---|---|---|
| Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science and Physiotherapy | English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics | English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics |
| Biochemistry | English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics | English, Chemistry, Biology, plus Physics or Mathematics |
| Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems and Software Engineering | English, Mathematics, Physics and two relevant sciences | English, Mathematics, Physics and another science |
| Law | English, Mathematics, Literature and two Arts/Social Science subjects | English, Literature and two Arts/Social Science subjects |
“English” means English Language. UMYU allows two O’Level sittings for these programmes except Medicine, whose published row does not specify a limit; confirm before combining results for MBBS.
Selected UMYU Direct Entry Requirements
| Programme | Published entry route |
|---|---|
| Medicine | At least 12 IJMB/HSC/GCE A’Level points in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Zoology; vacancies apply |
| Physiotherapy | 10 IJMB points in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, or a recognised related health-science degree |
| Nursing | The table lists a 10-point IJMB route and Nursing ND/HND qualifications with NMCN registration |
DE applicants must also meet O’Level requirements. Other programmes have their own qualification and grade rules; check the full university table.
How to Check the Requirements for Your Exact Course
Before registering for JAMB or changing your course:
- Open UMYU’s official undergraduate requirements.
- Use Find in page on your phone, or Ctrl + F on a computer.
- Search for your course.
- Read the admission requirement and UTME subjects columns separately.
- For Direct Entry, read the DE row beneath that programme.
- Compare the requirements with your actual subjects and qualifications.
Do not use the requirements for a similarly named course. Computer Science and Computer Science Education, for example, are separate programmes.
If a row is unclear or differs from the requirement shown during your JAMB registration, ask UMYU to clarify the specific subject or qualification before proceeding.
Does UMYU Conduct Post-UTME?
Yes. UMYU conducted an aptitude test for UTME applicants in the 2026/2027 admission exercise.
Its July screening notice provided for online assessment of Direct Entry applicants and requested hard copies of their credentials at the Registrar’s office.
The documents requested included:
- The relevant year’s JAMB registration/result slip.
- O’Level results.
- An identification document.
- A’Level, diploma, IJMB or NCE results for DE applicants.
The July notice also exempted applicants identified by JAMB as having special needs from the aptitude test, while requiring submission of their credentials.
Is the 2026/2027 Screening Still Open?
The advertised second-round registration window ran from 12 to 25 September 2026, with the test scheduled for 26 September 2026. Those dates have passed.
That second round excluded several programmes, including Medicine, Nursing, Law and Medical Laboratory Science. A course appearing in UMYU’s catalogue does not mean applications remain open for it in every screening round. Check a new official notice before paying for an application.
Does UMYU Offer Part-Time Courses?
Yes. UMYU’s School of Continuing Education advertised 30 part-time degree programmes for 2026/2027, covering Education, Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management Sciences.
The published entry conditions include:
| Route | Main requirement |
|---|---|
| 100-level entry | Five relevant O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics, within two sittings |
| Direct Entry into 200 level | Relevant NCE with at least six points, or a relevant diploma with at least Lower Credit, alongside the required O’Level credits |
Selection still applies. The advertised application deadline was 19 October 2026, so do not treat the notice as proof that applications are currently open.
Use the official part-time admission notice for the separate course list and requirements.
What If You Do Not Yet Meet the Degree Requirements?
UMYU also runs Remedial and IJMBE programmes, which have separate entry conditions.
- Remedial: At least three relevant O’Level credits and two relevant passes within two sittings. Students must correct their deficient subjects, take UTME and meet the university’s admission conditions.
- IJMBE: Normally five relevant O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics, within two sittings. The notice permits an English deficiency for applicants from educationally less developed states, provided it is corrected before the programme ends.
Both programmes run for one year. Completing either programme does not automatically secure a degree place.
See UMYU’s Remedial and IJMBE admission requirements before choosing this route.
Already Applied to UMYU?
UMYU published its merged undergraduate admission list for 2026/2027 on 21 October 2026.
Successful applicants are directed to pay their acceptance fee through the university’s applicant portal, print their university admission letter, upload their O’Level results and accept their offer on JAMB CAPS.
