- USSD access works without internet and is useful for candidates in low-connectivity areas

- You can check your result as many times as needed — there is no limit or charge
What Your JAMB Result Contains
Before checking, know what you are looking for. Your result slip displays the following:
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Registration number | Your unique JAMB candidate ID |
| Full name | As registered during UTME |
| Subject scores | Your score in each of the four subjects |
| Total score | Combined score out of 400 |
| Institution of choice | Your first choice school |
| Course of choice | Your chosen course of study |
| Result status | Released, Withheld, or Absent |
Method 1: Check JAMB Result Online (Recommended)
This is the fastest and most detailed method. You will see your full result slip including individual subject scores.
Step 1: Open a browser and go to the official JAMB result portal at results.jamb.gov.ng
Step 2: Enter your JAMB registration number in the field provided. Your registration number is printed on your JAMB registration slip and follows this format: 21XXXXXXXXXX
Step 3: Click “Check Result” or the equivalent submit button on the page
Step 4: Your result will display on screen showing your scores per subject and your total. Take a screenshot or print the page for your records
If you get an error message at this stage, wait a few hours and try again. During the first 48 hours after results are released, the portal experiences very high traffic and may be slow or temporarily unavailable.
Method 2: Check JAMB Result by SMS
JAMB sends your result automatically by SMS to the phone number you used during registration. You do not need to request it — it arrives once results are released.
If you did not receive the SMS or want to request it again, send a text message in this format:
RESULT to 55019
Standard SMS rates apply depending on your network. This works on MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile.
The SMS result shows your total score only, not the individual subject breakdown. For subject-by-subject scores, use the online portal.
Method 3: Check JAMB Result via USSD (No Internet Needed)
This method is useful if you have no internet access or are in an area with poor data connectivity.
Dial *55019*REGISTRATION NUMBER# from the phone number you registered with during JAMB.
Replace “REGISTRATION NUMBER” with your actual JAMB registration number. Example: *55019*21XXXXXXXXXX#
Your result will appear as an on-screen message within seconds. This method works on all major Nigerian networks and does not require a data connection.
How to Interpret Your JAMB Score
| Score Range | What It Means |
|---|---|
| 320 – 400 | Exceptional. Qualifies for any course at any institution |
| 280 – 319 | Very strong. Competitive for Medicine, Law at top universities |
| 250 – 279 | Good. Qualifies for most courses at federal universities |
| 220 – 249 | Above average. Competitive at state universities and many federal programmes |
| 200 – 219 | Average. Qualifies for many courses at state and private universities |
| 180 – 199 | Below average for federal universities. Strong options at state schools |
| 160 – 179 | Limited federal options. State universities and private universities remain accessible |
| 140 – 159 | JAMB minimum threshold. Narrow range of qualifying institutions |
| 100 – 139 | Qualifies for polytechnics and colleges of education only |
| Below 100 | Does not meet JAMB’s minimum for any accredited institution |
What “Withheld” Result Means
If your result page shows “Withheld” instead of a score, JAMB has placed your result on hold pending investigation. This happens for several reasons:
- Your biometric data at the exam centre did not match your registration records
- JAMB’s examination monitoring system flagged irregularities during your exam session
- Your registration details contain inconsistencies that require verification
- A third party sat the exam on your behalf and was detected
A withheld result is not automatically cancelled. JAMB investigates each case and communicates next steps. If your result is withheld, visit the nearest JAMB state office with your registration slip, a valid ID, and your NIN. Do not wait — the earlier you report, the faster your case is reviewed.
What to Do If Your Result Is Not Showing
If the portal says your result is not found or returns an error after results have been officially released, work through these steps in order.
First, confirm that results have actually been released. JAMB announces result release dates through their official website and social media channels. Do not rely on rumours — check jamb.gov.ng directly.
Second, confirm you are entering the correct registration number. A single wrong digit returns no result. Cross-check against your physical registration slip.
Third, try a different browser or clear your current browser’s cache. The portal occasionally has display issues tied to outdated cached pages.
Fourth, try the SMS or USSD method as an alternative confirmation. If those return a score, the issue is with the portal display, not your result.
Fifth, if none of the above works 72 hours after official release, visit a JAMB accredited centre or state office with your registration slip for a manual check.
How to Print Your JAMB Result Slip
You will need a printed copy of your result for Post-UTME screening at most institutions.
Step 1: Log into your JAMB profile at portal.jamb.gov.ng using your registered email and password
Step 2: Navigate to “Print Result Slip” from your dashboard
Step 3: Click print or save as PDF
Step 4: Print on A4 paper. Some institutions require colour printing — confirm your school’s requirement before printing
The result slip from the portal is the official document. A screenshot is not accepted as a substitute at most institutions.
What Happens After Your Result
Checking your result is not the end of the process — it is the beginning of the admission stage. Here is what comes next:
| Stage | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Score confirmed | Check the cut-off mark for your chosen school and course |
| Score meets cut-off | Monitor your school’s Post-UTME screening date and register |
| Score below your school’s cut-off | Consider changing institution to one where your score qualifies |
| Result withheld | Visit JAMB state office immediately with your documents |
| Result not found after 72 hours | Contact JAMB helpdesk or visit an accredited centre |
If your score meets your school’s cut-off mark, the next step is Post-UTME registration. Most schools open their Post-UTME portal within two to four weeks of JAMB result release. Missing that window means missing the admission cycle entirely.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will JAMB 2026 results be released?
JAMB typically releases results four to six weeks after the last exam date. The exact date is announced on jamb.gov.ng. Bookmark this page — we will update it with the official release date as soon as it is published.
Can I check my JAMB result without my registration number?
No. Your JAMB registration number is required for all three checking methods. If you have lost your registration slip, log into your JAMB profile at portal.jamb.gov.ng to retrieve your registration number from your dashboard.
Is there a fee to check my JAMB result?
Checking online at results.jamb.gov.ng is free. The USSD method is free. The SMS method uses standard network SMS rates which are minimal. Anyone asking you to pay a fee to access your result is attempting to defraud you.
Can my JAMB result be cancelled after it is released?
Yes. JAMB reserves the right to cancel results discovered to involve malpractice, even after release and after admission has been offered. This can happen months after the exam if investigation concludes with evidence of misconduct.
My result shows a very low score but I answered confidently. What should I do?
Begin by confirming you sat the correct exam — confirm your registered subjects and institution match your expectations. If you believe there is a genuine error, JAMB has a result verification process. Visit a JAMB state office with your registration details to initiate a query. Note that this process has strict timelines.
How many times can I check my JAMB result?
As many times as you need. There is no restriction on the number of checks or any charge for repeated checks through the official portal.
Can I check someone else’s JAMB result?
Yes, if you have their registration number. The portal does not restrict result checks to the registered candidate’s device.
What to Read Next
Now that you have your result, the next step depends entirely on your score. If your score meets your school’s cut-off, read our guide on Post-UTME screening dates and registration so you do not miss your school’s deadline. If your score falls short, check the JAMB cut-off marks guide to identify institutions where your score qualifies, and review the JAMB change of institution and course guide to understand your options before the admission window closes.
