To check your JAMB CAPS Transfer Approval status, log in to JAMB e-Facility, select Check Admission Status → Access My CAPS → Transfer Approval. This section shows whether your institution has proposed moving you to another course and allows you to accept or reject the proposal.
Accepting a course transfer and accepting admission are separate actions. After accepting the transfer, return to Admission Status to monitor the admission offer for the new course.
How to Check Your Transfer Approval Status
Have your JAMB profile email address, password and registration number ready.
- Visit JAMB e-Facility. Enter your registered email address and password.
- Select Check Admission Status on your dashboard.
- Choose the relevant examination year and enter your JAMB registration number if requested.
- Select Access My CAPS to open the Central Admissions Processing System.
- Open Transfer Approval from the CAPS menu.
- Read the transfer details. Check the institution, proposed course and your response status before taking any action.
The route through Check Admission Status, Access My CAPS and Transfer Approval is documented in FUTO’s official course-transfer instructions.
Checking your transfer status does not require you to accept the proposal immediately. Read the course name carefully before choosing a response.
Checking on a phone
If CAPS shows only Welcome, or the navigation menu is missing:
- Open your browser’s menu.
- Enable Desktop site or Request Desktop Website.
- Let the page reload.
- Open the CAPS navigation menu and select Transfer Approval.
You can also turn your phone sideways to make the page easier to read. Ignatius Ajuru University of Education specifically recommends desktop mode for candidates whose phones display only the CAPS welcome page.
What JAMB CAPS Transfer Approval Means
Transfer Approval is the section where an institution proposes considering you for a course different from your original choice.
For example, a candidate who applied for Microbiology could receive a proposal for Plant Science. The candidate must decide whether to accept that proposed programme.
The institution initiates the proposal. Opening Transfer Approval does not let you select any course and transfer yourself.
An alternative programme can arise during supplementary admission or when an institution considers your qualifications against another programme’s requirements. A transfer proposal alone does not establish the exact reason you were offered a different course.
What Your Transfer Status Means
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No program transfer consideration | No programme-transfer proposal is currently displayed for your record | Check Admission Status separately |
| A proposed course with Accept and Reject options | The institution has submitted a transfer proposal for your response | Review the course and choose your response |
| Your acceptance is recorded | You have agreed to the proposed programme | Complete the required course-change steps and monitor Admission Status |
| Your rejection is recorded | You have declined that proposed transfer | Contact the admission office if you need clarification about your remaining options |
| A blank page or only Welcome | The page has not displayed the information needed to assess your transfer status | Try desktop mode or another browser |
“No program transfer consideration” does not mean that JAMB has rejected your admission. It concerns a proposed course transfer, not the final admission decision. Candidates being considered for their original course do not need a transfer proposal simply to receive admission.
How to Accept a Course Transfer on JAMB CAPS
Accept only after confirming that you want to study the proposed course.
- Open Transfer Approval.
- Read the institution and course details.
- Select Accept.
- Read and complete the confirmation prompt.
- Check that your acceptance has been recorded.
- Save a screenshot for your records.
FUTO’s illustrated instructions show an initial Accept action followed by Accept Offer confirmation. Complete the confirmation displayed on your screen; do not stop after the first click.
Before accepting, check the programme’s subjects, qualification, duration and career direction. Similar course names do not necessarily lead to the same training or professional qualification.
Do not accept an unwanted course on the assumption that you will automatically move back to your original choice after registration. A later departmental transfer is a separate institutional process.
What Happens After You Accept the Transfer?
Your acceptance allows the institution to proceed with the proposed programme. You still need to follow the admission process through to the offer and its acceptance.
1. Complete the required JAMB change of course
Transfer acceptance and Change of Course serve different purposes:
| Action | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Accepting a transfer on CAPS | Records your agreement to the institution’s proposed programme |
| Completing JAMB Change of Course | Updates your course choice to match the approved programme |
| Accepting admission | Records your acceptance of the admission offer |
JAMB’s published CAPS policy explains that candidates accepting a programme transfer are notified to change their programme so that they can print the admission letter. Follow the instruction issued through your profile and institution, and use the exact course name shown in the proposal.
This requirement also appears in UNILAG’s 2026/2027 change-of-course notice: successful candidates must effect a JAMB change of course so their admission letters reflect the approved programme.
Keep the acknowledgement slip after completing the change.
2. Check your uploaded results
Open My O’Level on CAPS and confirm that your results are present and correct.
If the results are missing, visit a JAMB-accredited CBT centre for assistance. Direct Entry applicants should also resolve any outstanding qualification-upload requirements.
An accepted transfer does not remove the entry requirements for the proposed programme.
3. Monitor Admission Status
Return to Admission Status to check for the offer. When admission is offered, follow JAMB’s acceptance instructions for your profile.
After accepting admission, generate your JAMB admission letter and check that it carries the correct institution and course.
The admission process includes institutional recommendation and JAMB approval. Your recorded transfer acceptance is one stage in that process, not a replacement for the admission offer.
What Happens If You Reject the Transfer?
Rejecting the proposal prevents that programme transfer from taking effect. IAUE’s published guidance states that a candidate who rejects remains with the preferred programme rather than moving to the proposed one.
However, remaining with your original choice does not secure a place on that course. Rejecting an alternative programme does not compel the institution to admit you to your first choice.
If you want to understand your remaining options, contact the admission office before responding. Ask whether you are still being considered for your original course and whether another application route is available.
Leaving the proposal unanswered is not acceptance. JAMB’s published movement policy states that a candidate who rejects or does not respond cannot be moved through that proposal.
Why Your Transfer Approval Is Not Showing
First identify which of these situations applies.
The page says “No program transfer consideration”
There is no transfer proposal displayed for you at that time. Continue checking Admission Status as well as Transfer Approval.
If your school specifically told you that it submitted a proposal, ask its admission office to confirm the registration number, proposed programme and submission status.
You cannot find Transfer Approval in the menu
Confirm that you selected Access My CAPS. The main e-Facility dashboard and the CAPS dashboard are different screens.
On a phone, enable desktop mode and reload the page. If the menu still does not appear, try a computer or another browser.
Your school announced transfers, but your own page is empty
A general announcement does not confirm that every applicant has an individual transfer proposal.
Check the announcement’s eligibility conditions and candidate list, where provided. Then ask the school whether your own record has been processed.
You accepted, but CAPS still says “Not Admitted”
Check these three things:
- Your transfer acceptance was recorded.
- Your required results are uploaded.
- You completed the course-change instruction issued to you.
Then contact the institution about the remaining admission processing. JAMB’s official support guidance identifies missing results, outstanding institutional recommendations and unaccepted transfer offers as issues to check when admission remains unresolved.
Do not treat an unchanged status as proof that you need to pay someone to “activate” the transfer.
How Long Does Admission Take After Transfer Acceptance?
There is no verified universal waiting period that applies to every institution and candidate.
The next update depends on the remaining institutional and JAMB processing. A claim that every accepted transfer becomes admission within 24 hours, 72 hours or seven days should not be treated as an official timetable.
If your institution has published a deadline, follow it. If the status remains unresolved as that deadline approaches, contact the admission office with evidence of your acceptance and completed course change.
If You Accepted or Rejected by Mistake
Contact your institution’s admission office promptly. Explain the decision recorded on CAPS and the response you intended to make.
Also raise a ticket through the JAMB Support Ticketing System where the issue requires JAMB’s intervention.
Prepare:
- Your registration number and examination year.
- The institution and proposed course.
- The response you selected.
- The date you responded.
- A screenshot of the recorded status.
Do not assume the response can be reversed by making another payment or changing your course independently. Obtain instructions for your specific record.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does transfer approval mean I have been admitted?
A transfer proposal means the institution wants to move your consideration to another programme. Confirm the admission offer under Admission Status and complete its acceptance separately.
Can I check Transfer Approval with only my registration number?
The e-Facility login requires your registered email address and password. Keep your registration number ready for the admission section. If you cannot sign in, use the password-reset option on the official login page.
Can I choose a different course from the one proposed?
The Accept and Reject buttons respond to the displayed proposal. They are not a menu for selecting another programme. Contact the institution if you want consideration for a different course.
Is CAPS Transfer Approval the same as an inter-university transfer?
No. This guide concerns a proposed change of programme during admission processing. Moving from one university to another as an enrolled student follows a separate transfer process.
Where should I check after completing the transfer steps?
Check Admission Status for the offer, then follow the institution’s clearance instructions after accepting admission. You can find related admission guidance in the CampusNinja JAMB hub.
