If Your Result Does Not Show or Returns an Error
Heavy traffic is common in the first days after a release. These are the messages candidates usually run into.
| Message | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Result not found | Wrong year, exam type or registration number, or the result is not yet visible | Recheck all three details and try again later |
| Invalid token | A typing error, often a zero mistaken for the letter O | Copy and paste the token instead of typing it |
| Result withheld | NECO has flagged the result for review | Contact your school and the nearest NECO state office |
| Portal will not load | Too many candidates online at the same time | Try again at a quieter hour or use a different browser |
If your result shows wrong details, such as a missing subject or a wrong grade, ask your school to submit a formal complaint to the nearest NECO state office.
What to Do After You Check Your Result
- Confirm your credits. Most institutions require at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in one sitting or as their admission rules allow.
- Compare your result with your course requirements. Some courses ask for specific subjects at credit level.
- Check your target school’s cut-off. Use our JAMB cut-off marks for 2026 page to see where your UTME score stands.
- Watch for screening dates. Many schools are still running screening exercises, and our Post-UTME forms page tracks which ones are open.
- Follow your institution’s instructions on how and when to submit your O’level result, since requirements differ between schools.
Beware of Fake NECO Result Links
Fake result links tend to circulate on WhatsApp and social media every time NECO releases results. Some are designed to collect your personal details or payment information. Only use results.neco.gov.ng, never pay anyone who promises to change your grades or “upload” a result for you, and do not share your token publicly.
