About Lagos State University
Lagos State University (LASU) was established in 1983 and is located in Ojo, Lagos State. It is a public university owned by the Lagos State Government, accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). LASU is consistently one of Nigeria’s most applied-to universities — in 2026, JAMB recorded 84,326 first-choice applicants, making it the most subscribed state university in the country. It offers programmes across 16 faculties and schools, including Medicine, Engineering, Law, Computing, and Agriculture.
Eligibility for the 2026/2027 Screening
To qualify for the LASU Post-UTME screening exercise, you must meet all of the following conditions:
- Sat the 2026 UTME and scored a minimum of 195 marks
- Chose LASU as your first-choice institution in JAMB
- Are at least 16 years old by October 1, 2026
- Possess a minimum of 5 O’Level credits in relevant subjects (including English Language) from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB in not more than two sittings
- Have your O’Level results uploaded on JAMB CAPS before the screening closes — results uploaded after July 2026 will not be accepted
Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) students who completed the LASU programme and meet the above criteria are also eligible.
Direct Entry candidates must have obtained the JAMB Direct Entry form and chosen LASU as their first choice. Only LASU Diploma qualifications are accepted for DE — except NCE holders applying into the Faculty of Education.
Lagos State indigenes who completed verification with the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (IIVC) will have their indigene claims automatically validated during screening.
⚠️ Only candidates who chose LASU as their JAMB first-choice institution are eligible. Candidates who selected another school as first choice cannot apply, even if they meet the score requirement.

How LASU Calculates Admission Aggregate
LASU does not conduct a written Post-UTME aptitude test. Your admission score is an aggregate of two components:
- Your UTME score (JAMB)
- Your five best relevant O’Level subject grades
The higher your combined aggregate, the better your chances of securing a place, especially in competitive faculties like Medicine, Law, and Engineering. A score of exactly 195 is the minimum to access the portal, but you will be competing against thousands of candidates who also meet that threshold. Your O’Level performance is therefore just as important as your JAMB score.
